The Problem We’re Solving
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in many parts of the world. Each year, over 400,000 children are diagnosed, and more than 90,000 die. Nearly 50% wait for a clinical trial due to a lack of approved treatments—compared to just 5% of adults. Despite this crisis, childhood cancer remains classified as a rare disease, creating a dangerous gap in care. Most treatments are outdated, toxic, and designed for adults, leaving over 95% of survivors with long-term health issues. For aggressive cancers like some metastatic sarcomas and brain tumors, survival rates remain critically low.
Beyond Discovery
Despite progress in early-stage discovery, most promising pediatric cancer therapies never make it past the lab. Advancing a treatment requires infrastructure, funding, and industry backing—resources often out of reach for academic research. But because pediatric cancer offers limited commercial return, the biopharma industry has largely looked the other way. As a result, in the past 40 years, only seven drugs have been approved for childhood cancer—compared to over 200 for adult cancers.
